Artist Statement:
The second model for the images is Eowyn who is my best friend and somehow, luckily enough, my sister. She and I met the second day she was born, she’s two years my junior, and we have been friends ever since. She and I grew up together practically glued to the hip, and when her mom and my dad got married it only made us closer. She and I spend almost all the time together. Our countless tea parties are a very near and dear memory for me.
She’s one of the most important people in my life. Honestly I can’t imagine a better person.
I decided to take her pictures in front of a bright yellow bush because it added a bright pop of color behind her and I thought the filtered light was really soft and pretty. I chose her face to be the selective focus and to use the bush at the top of the frame which gave it an interesting horizon line. I also placed her in the middle of the frame, which was practicing grouping.
